Our Story
Hi, we're your hosts
Laurel and Loom started with a pretty simple idea: buy a cabin in the mountains and build something the whole family could be part of. When the idea came up, my parents didn't need much convincing — they jumped in as partners almost right away. My dad co-hosts the property alongside me day to day, and my mom pitches in wherever she's needed, from restocking the essentials to keeping an eye on the calendar.
We're all a little obsessed with the Bryson City area — the hiking, chasing waterfalls, and the food (we will absolutely hand you a restaurant itinerary if you ask). By day, I'm a software engineer and my wife Heather is a graphic designer — which, between the two of us, is probably why this website looks the way it does and works the way it should.
My parents are retired now, which mostly means they've traded one full house for another — they raised four kids of their own and have twelve grandkids between them, so hosting guests is basically their retirement side project, and they're built for it. Add in our toddler, Ruby, and our very enthusiastic dog, Waylon, and that's the whole crew behind Laurel and Loom.
We treat every stay the way we'd want to be hosted: honest details, a spotless space, and a few good recommendations for where to eat when you don't feel like cooking. We hope you'll come see why we love it here.
